* I'm sorry for my absence the past month. I'm also sorry for being behind on answering comments and mails. Will get to that as soon as I can. Please let me know if I missed anything important!

* NaNoWriMo is over for this year. Now I'm sitting here with a monster of a first draft for a gay superhero-ish romance that is going to need a lot of editing but might possibly turn out to be readable in the end. (97.468 words in 26 days. I don't even know...)

* I have absolutely no idea what to write for [livejournal.com profile] hc_bigbang. SGA? H50? Avengers? Leverage? Suits? I'd love to write that story where Rodney keeps getting married (to other people than John) and John keeps waiting for him to get a clue. I'd also love to write that story where Danny has to go back to Jersey to tie up loose ends and there are many epic long distance calls. Or the one where Tony actually has to deal with his alcoholism before he's allowed to be an Avenger. Or the one where Harvey decides to testify against Denis Cameron after all and paints a big target on his own back. Or the one where Parker, Hardison and Eliot fight zombies. Or the one where Steve has to grieve for things that the rest of the world only knows as ancient history. Or the one where Atlantis falls and the survivors are trapped in the Pegasus galaxy on a Traveller ship. Or the one where the reason for why Danny has been such an ass this season is because he's trying to deal with losing the baby that turned out not to be his. Or the one where... well, you get the idea. (BTW, I'm very flattered that people keep asking, but I'm not writing Entangled Particles 'verse for this challenge. I feel like I've already tortured them enough...)
zinnith: (plotbunny)
In general, it's a good idea to finish a story before you start planning a new one.

Oh, who am I kidding. [livejournal.com profile] hc_bigbang, here I come! I have no idea what to write, but it'll probably be H50 or SGA, unless I decide to try my hand at some Avengers goodness.

The signups don't close until November 30:th, by the way. Does anyone want to play with me? Come on, 20K of lovely whump! You know you want to do it!

Gonna go write some porn now. Ktnxbai.

So, I officially won NaNo today. *whistles innocently* Now I just have to finish the story.

But I'm not going to bore you with that. I'll bore you with a meme instead:

If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately
be looking for a body in the coach. —Alfred Hitchcock

When I write a story, what do readers immediately look for?
zinnith: (plotbunny)
I think I just found this year's NaNo characters. Now I just need a plot to go with them. It's probably going to be an extremely silly story about superheroes who aren't really superheroes. I might be able to work in a couple of zombies too.

So, anyone else doing NaNoWriMo this year?
zinnith: (Default)
* Morlocks: Why David Hewlett and Robert Picardo can't stop laughing - A spoilery interview with David and Robert. I've missed these two! Oh, and apparently David is going to twitter his way through the film when it airs on SyFy, so big YAY! for those of you who get to watch it on TV.

* I've been having these strange vertigo attacks all week. I feel fine, then the whole world tilts and whirls around for a second, and the next moment I'm fine again. I have no idea why but I suspect a combination of stress and some kind of ear infection thing that doesn't quite want to break out. Very annoying, especially as I never know beforehand when they'll hit.

* I had planned on writing so many fills for the [livejournal.com profile] hawaii_50_hc commentfic meme, but people keep filling my favourites before I can find the time to do it! Not that I'm complaining of course...

* I found out that University of Borås offers the librarian program I want to get into as a part time distance course. I've spent most of the week on their online application site with the cursor hovering over the 'send application' button. Haven't had the guts to actually click it yet, but I have until October 17:th.

* An interesting discussion I got dragged into earlier in the week:

What makes you ship a pairing?

Be it het, slash or femslash - what makes you sit up and decide that those two (or three or four or whatever) were made for each other? When you watch a show, is it important to you that there is a pairing for you to ship? How often do you ship canon pairings? If the writers break up your ship (canon or not) is that a show-ender for you? Do you enjoy watching a show more if you have a vested interest in a ship? For how many of your favourite shows do you have an OTP?

Come play with me!

I'm seriously considering signing up for this thing.

Dear diary, today I was supposed to clean the flat and do laundy. Instead, I wrote 5K of porn. I'd say it was a day well spent.

Title: Happy To See Me

Warnings: Drunk (but enthusiastically consensual) sex.

Summary: He’s already her boss and her best friend and they’ve been through enough together that having sex couldn’t possibly change anything fundamental between them.

Pick one of my fics, and I'll give you a detail that didn't make it into the fic. Background canon, deleted scenes, or a look into the future. My choice, but if you have a specific question you can ask it in your request.

Help?

Is there a kind soul who would like to beta the Danny-moves-in story? It's 10 K, PG-13 and has lots of oblivious boys and quite a lot of freaking out as well.

I will be eternally grateful!
zinnith: (Default)
Whee, I can post!

I've almost had a full week's vacation and I'm just getting to the point where I can begin to calm down and realise that I don't actually have to do anything. (Except for the windows. Those, I have to clean today because it's getting difficult to see out of them.) I've been house- and catsitting for my parents for a couple of days while they're in Naples but I went home yesterday to spend the weekend in the city. I'm probably going back out to the country for a few days next week to make sure everything is fit for Mum and Dad to come home to. Sister #2 and my little brother are both staying out there over the summer and while I trust my sister to take care of things, she's also working and I don't really trust my brother, at least not as long as the TV and his computer works...

My [livejournal.com profile] sheppard_hc story is practically finished, I just have a few minor edits and a final read-through left to do. I can't wait until next week when I get to read everyone elses stories, and I hope my recipient will like mine. I've sweated blood over this one! On the plus side, once I started writing regularly (as in 'daily') again, I found I just couldn't stop, so I took a look at my WIP folder to see what I had to choose from. Hopefully, the Danny-moves-in story should be done soon :D

My cellphone randomly stopped working yesterday morning and I am not pleased as it's only a little over a year old. My whole life is in that phone. At least I found an old phone in a drawer so I can still text and make calls and get up on time in the morning, but I can't read my mail and access facebook (and wasn't it a bit of a revelation to realise how addicted I've become to facebook *headdesk*.) Today, I'm headed to the 3 store where I will hopefully not be a stupid customer, but possibly a mildly irate one.

Also, Sister #1 and I took Gran to the woods yesterday for a treasure hunt and we struck gold! )

Oh, before I forget again. I've received a bunch of lovely v-gifts lately. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] bluespirit_star for the picnic basket, [livejournal.com profile] tarlanx for the smooch and [livejournal.com profile] sarahj2222 for the box of chocolates!

[livejournal.com profile] sheppard_hc wordcount: 5k. There is progress! I should be about halfway through, unless John decides to start being difficult.

And now I think I have deserved to watch Leverage.

Just because Steve and Danny and Grace are adorable.

Title: Great Void
Author: Zinnith
Wordcount: ~2000
Rating: PG-13
Warning: PTSD

Notes: I actually sat down with the intent of writing porn, but instead this is what came out. I honestly have no idea where it came from, but it's apparently something John has wanted to get off his chest for a while. Well, that's about it.

Written directly into LJ and unbeta'd so please feel free to tell me about any mistakes I might have made.

Summary: A struggle with memory and mind.

Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] ciaimpala's prompt: one (or both) think the other is dead, cue epic reunion with lots of kissing.
Thank you very much, [livejournal.com profile] kensieg for the beta.

Author: Zinnith
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: General for the show.
Warnings: Meta. Ethics. Dark-ish.
Disclaimer: Nothing is mine.

Author's Notes: This discussion has been raised before by people more talented than me, but I still had to get it off my chest before I go back to the shinyhappyfun. Unbeta'd so feel free to point out any mistakes I might have made.

Summary: Danny’s conscience speaks in Grace’s voice these days.

Quick question - has Steve ever been referred to as 'princess' in canon or is that a fanon thing?

I seem to have roughly four thousand words of something that started out as a cute fluffy Danny-moves-in ficlet and then grew plot and angst and probably needs another couple of thousand words before it can be described as a story. Feelings are very complicated, apparently.

And just because I can:
Photobucket
"Babe, I know that you think you're Superman, and I hate to break this to you, but you're not actually capable of unpowered flight, okay? Please stop flapping your arms, you're embarrassing me. You can leave the shirt off, by the way."
zinnith: (Default)
It's pouring down snow. I'm home sick and I was going to write porn. Instead, I wrote... this. I swear I have no idea how it happened. Let's just say it's one hundred percent pure crack. Unbeta'd, so feel free to tell me if you find any mistakes.

Danny has an unusual problem, Kono squees, Chin suffers and Steve secretly has a heart made of marshmallow. )
