All my shows are conspiring to break my heart this season :(
I mean to post this yesterday as a reaction, but most of my reaction was simply: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! So I decided to take the time to step back and think a little before posting.
The conclusion I arrived to was this: If only Steve had followed my very wise example, many of the bad things in this ep could have been avoided.
I'm actually beginning to think that Wo Fat might have had a hand in sending Steve all that evidence as part of the epic set-up. He must have known that once Steve started suspecting the Governor was involved in his parents' murders, there was no way he'd let it go. Seriously, it's so easy to bait him, it's almost ridiculous.
I'm very happy that Jenna lived, because I was almost a hundred percent sure that she was the one they were going to kill off. Not that I'm happy that they killed off the Governor instead, because she was a pretty awesome character too (and I'm not going to buy that she was really dirty without some a very good explanation of her motivations, Show, do you hear me?)
So... from here? It's my firm opinion that Chin Has a Plan, because no way did he just jump ship like that. Really, what I want from the next season premiere is for Chin to save the day in many awesome ways.
Concerning the Rachel/Danny thing that broke slashdom: First, let me just say that, while I do slash Steve and Danny, I'm not nearly as tinhat about the them as I am about, say, John and Rodney. Really, as long as they're best friends, I'm happy.
So, I don't mind Rachel and Danny together. They obviously still love each other and the scene where she told him about the pregnancy made my heart melt a little (Danny's happy faaaaace!) What I do mind is that they went behind Stan's back because I don't want to think that's the kind of people they are.
Anyway, judgey moral-high-horse bits aside, I can't see it work out between them this time either, despite my strong desire to see Danny cradle a teeny tiny baby. I think the scene with Rachel and Grace waiting dejectedly at the airport made it pretty clear that Danny's job will always come first. (Yep, in my headcanon, that was a big part of why they broke up the first time around.) No matter what happens, it will end with heartbreak for everyone involved.
Also, I wonder what they're going to do with the pregnancy thing, because there really are no good ways I can see it play out.
(Please no hating on Rachel in comments. Rachel is awesome and I adore her!)
Wow. This show kills me with the mood whiplash. Actually, I think one of the strengths of Castle is how it manages to pull off both the lighthearted and the tragedy, sometimes even in the same episode.
This episode was hard to watch because I knew what was going to happen. I was spoiled that there was going to be a character death in the finale and from the clues in the last ep, it was pretty clear it was going to be Cpt Montgomery. (Why else would they introduce his wife and have him promise to retire? If that wasn't a setup to kill him off, I don't know what is.)
So I was prepared, but that still didn't stop me from crying because I loved Montgomery.
Oh, and my very favourite bit of this episode was the fight between Ryan and Esposito in the alley. There was so much raw emotion in that scene.
And yeah, no. No way are they going to kill off Beckett, so that cliffhanger was a little boring, actually. If you want to end a season on a 'Are they dead or not' cliffhanger, you should pick a character who might actually die, not one who's protected by plot armour. When they shot Mozzie in White Collar, I was worried. Now? Not so much.
I need happy fluffy things now.
