ETA: There are more of them! Thor and Iron Man!

Whee, I can post!

I've almost had a full week's vacation and I'm just getting to the point where I can begin to calm down and realise that I don't actually have to do anything. (Except for the windows. Those, I have to clean today because it's getting difficult to see out of them.) I've been house- and catsitting for my parents for a couple of days while they're in Naples but I went home yesterday to spend the weekend in the city. I'm probably going back out to the country for a few days next week to make sure everything is fit for Mum and Dad to come home to. Sister #2 and my little brother are both staying out there over the summer and while I trust my sister to take care of things, she's also working and I don't really trust my brother, at least not as long as the TV and his computer works...

My [livejournal.com profile] sheppard_hc story is practically finished, I just have a few minor edits and a final read-through left to do. I can't wait until next week when I get to read everyone elses stories, and I hope my recipient will like mine. I've sweated blood over this one! On the plus side, once I started writing regularly (as in 'daily') again, I found I just couldn't stop, so I took a look at my WIP folder to see what I had to choose from. Hopefully, the Danny-moves-in story should be done soon :D

My cellphone randomly stopped working yesterday morning and I am not pleased as it's only a little over a year old. My whole life is in that phone. At least I found an old phone in a drawer so I can still text and make calls and get up on time in the morning, but I can't read my mail and access facebook (and wasn't it a bit of a revelation to realise how addicted I've become to facebook *headdesk*.) Today, I'm headed to the 3 store where I will hopefully not be a stupid customer, but possibly a mildly irate one.

Also, Sister #1 and I took Gran to the woods yesterday for a treasure hunt and we struck gold! )

This is a good day :)

* The sun is shining, the snow is finally beginning to melt away and there is a whisper of spring in the air. Not even my rude customers will be able to wipe the smile off my face today :D

* I have next to no free time this week due to choir practice, choreography practice and stage decorations and it's all worth it because our concert this weekend will be utterly awesome.

* Alex O'Loughlin is ridiculous. All is well with the world.

(cropped, cause the original pic might possibly be triggering for abuse even if it's just make-up.)

* I had a great dream tonight. I don't remember all the details, but I was a reporter and I got to meet one of my favourite artists (don't remember who, might have been either Regina Spektor or Ani DiFranco) and ask her about her three favourite songs from the past century. Unfortunately, my alarm went off just as she was about to answer, but I woke up in a very good mood.

Just because I'm curious - I know it's often subject to change but right now in this moment, which are your three favourite songs in the world? Songs that make you happy, songs that you can listen to ten times in a row without getting tired of them, songs that automatically pop up in your head when someone asks you about your favourite music? Please share!

These are my happymaking songs of the day... )

It doesn't matter how many expensive cat beds you buy them, they will have their own ideas about what's a comfy sleeping place.

It's -14C, the skin on my legs is so dry it spontaneously splits apart and starts to bleed, and I fell on a patch of ice yesterday so both my hands and my right knee are killing me.

In other words, I'm in need of cheering up, so I hereby declare today Cute Animal Picture Friday.

Here's a baby sloth!

I went for a walk around the sports field. It was snowing a little.

Gah. I was supposed to drag myself to the gym this morning. So why am I reading H50 fic at 8:30 in the morning? I think my New Year resolution will be to never turn the computer on until I'm done with everything on the to-do list for the day. (In my defense, I had to upload some new music to the Mp3-player...)

I hope you all had a great Christmas (or a great weekend for those who don't celebrate)!

Whew!

I am officially on Christmas holiday. No more work for me until next year! All the gifts are bought and wrapped and packed up for the trip home to my parents tomorrow where the rest of the family has already gathered. Still cold and snowy. My little brother drove mum's car into a ditch this afternoon (no damage to the brother, only minor damage to the car) so I'll have something to tease him about when I see him.

Should I be this exhausted before the holidays have even started? It feels like I've been on the move the entire week. Gift shopping, food shopping, ridiculous amounts of work, trying to get some exercise in between. It's entirely possible I might have overdone it a little bit - my joints are not happy. But now I just have to get through the weekend and then I finally have a few days to relax before it's back to work again.

Anyway. Time for my day-before-Christmas-Eve-tradition of pizza and Die Hard! I have a feeling I might fall asleep halfway through...

It's winter solstice, -20 C and nose-freezingly cold. Still beautiful though.

It's election year in Sweden. I don't know if I'm supposed to laugh or cry.

The latest suggestion from integration minister Nyamko Sabuni of the Liberal Party: shorter parental leave and a special sector of minimum wage jobs for refugees and immigrants. Her explanation: "It's extremely important to be a little unconventional if we're going to make it."

And the scary thing is that there are people who agree with her.

Gah.

This thread on fandomsecrets made my morning.

It was just a matter of time, I guess...

Also, it was a robot head!

Food post!

This post brought to you by instant noodles!

See, I do my best to eat as healthy as my budget allows (damn you, fresh vegetables, why must you cost a fortune?) but now and then, especially by the end of the month when money is tight, I revert to my old student eating habits, i.e. cheap, filling food. It reminds me of the days when I only owned two glasses, two plates, and a coffee mug, and tried my very best to come up with tasty dishes that didn't cost anything because I spent all my money on more important things (books and beer). This one was a favourite! I wouldn't eat it every night like I did back in uni, but today I found that I had all the ingredients home and decided to make it.

Noodle soup for one
1 packet of shrimp-flavoured instant noodles
1/2 dl shrimps
1/2 dl frozen vegetables (I prefer corn, peas and red pepper)
curry powder
pepper powder
sweet chili sauce
salt and pepper

Prepare the noodles, without the flavouring. Heat vegetables, shrimp, spices and shrimp flavouring in a pan with a little butter until slightly soggy. Add the shrimp mix into the noodles. Delicious soup!

Do you have any nostalgia food like that? The first food you cooked for yourself when you moved away from home? Food your parents would be horrified if they'd known you were eating practically every day? Pure comfort food, food that brings out memories!

I spent the evening watching Stonehenge Apocalypse, the SyFy TV-movie with Misha Collins, Torri Higginson and Peter Wingfield. It was.... indescribable.

* [livejournal.com profile] holmes_big_bang status report: 8k. Plot pretty much figured out. I have no illusions about the quality of the writing but hey, at least I'm writing! That's a good thing, right?

* I seem to be on a films-based-on-comic-books roll. Saw The Losers yesterday after mainlining the comics. The comic made more sense plot-wise than the film, but at least the film did not break my heart at the end. The characters are awesome in both comic and film. Cougar and Jensen and Aisha all own my heart.

* It's been a weird week, emotion-wise. I've been going around feeling guilty for no reason at all. I have nothing to feel guilty about! Even if I had, I would grab that feeling by the scruff of the neck and kick it out of the door, because my life? Guilt free zone! But to do that, I need to know the source of the guilt so I can just tell myself that it's really nothing to worry about in the long run. Whatever.

* The Mentalist is beginning to bore me. Castle still holds my interest. I cannot wait for Psych and Leverage to start up again.

* Aaaaaand I have watched Supernatural again. Spoilers up to 5x21 )

Peter O'Donnell passed away...

Modesty Blaise has a special place in my heart. I was ten years old the first time I got hold of a story about her and discovered that women in comic books did not have to be helpless damsels in distress.

Rest in peace, Peter O'Donnell.

So. Diana Gabaldon discovers fanfic and throws a shitfit. Aaaahhhh, people are writing PORN about her characters! Um... I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who once upon a teenage time read the Outlander books solely for all the porn. My copies are still dogeared in all the naughty places :)

Happier news: Jim Butcher proves that he is, indeed, awesome.

When am I going to learn that I just shouldn't watch the last thirty minutes of Serenity. Damn you, Joss Whedon! Five years and I still bawl my eyes out. Every. Single. Time.

I was going to catch up on Supernatural today but I think I've had my heart torn out and stomped on enough for one day. Might finish the latest Dresden Files instead. Or maybe not, if what I've read so far is any indication to how it's going to end. (See: heart torn out and stomped on. And no, I do not want to be spoiled!)

Soooo... sitting down and waiting for Doctor Who? Check.

By the way. Am I the only one who has trouble finishing a book or a show or a movie if it looks like it's going to end badly for my favourite characters? Just to take an example - I was spoiled for the end of Torchwood and I still haven't been able to bring myself to see Children of Earth. (Let's not even talk about SGA. The last episode is sitting unwatched on my harddrive. I know what happens but it's like, if I watch it, it's going to be over for real.)

These are the things I ponder on a Saturday evening. How about you, dear f-list?

Bored today, therefore - meme! Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] sgamadison.

1. If you're on my friends list, I want to know 35 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet is fine.

2. Comment here with your answers and repost the questionnaire on your own journal. :)

This way to the questions! )
