* Dear German lady: No, I'm sorry, I don't speak German. All I can say is 'Ein beer, bitte' and I know that the answer to the question 'Sprechen sie deutsch?' is 'nein'. So when I politely tell you that I'll be happy to help you in English or Swedish or ask a German-speaking employee to call you back, why do you keep talking to me in rapid German? I can't understand you! You kept this up for ages before you went to get an English-speaking co-worker, as if I could somehow magically learn a new language in five minutes.

Please don't get mad at me for not being able to speak to you in your language. I could have understood your ire if you had called a company based in Germany, but you didn't. You called a company based in Sweden, the country in which we speak Swedish. Yes, some of us took German in school. I didn't, I took French and Swedish Sign Language. I'm not required to know German. If I was, it would have been in the ad, and I wouldn't have applied for this job, and if I had been stupid enough to do that anyway, Mr and Mrs Boss wouldn't have hired me, because I do not speak German, damnit!

* Dear big client of ours: How is it a good idea for the entire billing department to go on a month-long vacation at the same time? Do you have any idea how many curses I've had directed at me because of this? I hate you with all my being and if you were here right now, I'd punch you. Hard.

* Dear older gentleman who played big band jazz for me through the phone because you thought I was so nice: You made my day and I wish all my customers were like you!
