classics_geek. Bones gets stuck on a desert planet inside a time dilation field, struggling to get through the days, painfully alone and beginning to doubt that someone's coming for him. On the Enterprise, Jim struggles to save him, just as painfully alone and knowing that every day for him is a month for Bones.
It's an incredibly well-written story. You can feel the scorching heat of the desert, the dryness of Bones' skin, the effort it takes for him to just keep existing. You can feel Jim's desperation, fuelled by worry and sleeplessness, how he drives himself and his crew into exhaustion to get Bones back.
What are you waiting for, just go read it already!
