Ooookay, so, here's that other show I've fallen madly in love with lately. I say show, but it's actually a series of movies based on the novels by author Richard Stevenson.

Don Strachey is an Albany P.I. and the movies are in the classic noir detective story style, which I love.

Meet Don Strachey (Chad Allen).

To be honest, most of his cases consist of exposing cheating spouses. This tends to get Don hit in the face a lot. Of course, it might also have something to do with his uncanny ability to piss people off.

Things you need to know about Don: He has a really really crappy car.

Huh. I think I had my first driving lesson in a car like this. It ended with me backing the damn thing into a tree. My dear old Dad wouldn't let me back behind the wheel. This is why I don't have a driver's license.

Other things you need to know about Don Strachey: He likes martinis and he's a midget. Seriously, he's tiny. And he kind of reminds me of one of those small, yappy dogs. You know, one that's quite badly behaved, and who just won't let go once he's found something of interest even when it gets him into trouble.

What differs these movies from other stories in the noir genre is that at the end of a hard day of sleuthing, Don gets to come home to this:

Ah... *happy sigh* Handsome husband, nice house, white fluffy little dog (whose name is Dr Watson, by the way). Pure domestic bliss.

Don's husband ('or as close as two men can get in this country') is Timothy Callahan (Sebastian Spence). He works as a senator's aide and looks like he has a stick permanently stuck up his ass. Some people think that he's prissy and kind of boring, but it's my firm belief that Don would be completely and utterly lost without him. Also, he's cute when he smiles.

There are also two other characters worth mentioning here. First we have Detective Sean 'Bub' Bailey (Daryl Shuttleworth), Don's police contact. I don't have a picture of Bub because photobucket hates me. Things you need to know about Bub: He's one of the good guys, and he puts up with Don despite all the extra paper work this means.

Secondly, there is Kenny Kwon (Nelson Wong), Don's secretary/assistant type of person.

Things you need to know about Kenny: He's annoying. I won't say more than that.

There are four movies so far; Third Man Out, Shock to the System, On the Other Hand, Death and Ice Blues. After what I've heard, there's two more planned.

And now I'm just going to go on and post a lot of pictures of Don and Timmy being dumbface in love, just because I can.

Broody boys...

Wet boys...

Sleepy boys in the morning...

Boys having made it out of bed in the morning...

And this picture, I just love. Look at Don trying to be all tall and failing... Midget!

Caps from all over the place, mostly [livejournal.com profile] nick_n_nora, a Don/Timmy comm. If you see anything that's yours and want it back, let me know!

Not familiar with the movies, but had heard of the books and was interested in reading them--now you've really piqued my interest!

My work here is done! *dusts hands* Well, the movies got me interested in the books, so I think I'm going to try to get my hands on them.
