Lorne woke with a start and found to his great horror that he was drooling on his CO. On the plasma screen, the last scenes of Top Gun were playing, but no one in the audience was awake to watch it.

On the other end of the sofa, McKay was snoring with his mouth open. Ronon and Keller were snuggled together in the big armchair, asleep. Teyla was nowhere to be seen. Zelenka was curled up on the floor with his head in Simpson’s lap.

What the hell, Lorne thought and let his head sink back onto Sheppard’s bony shoulder.

“Mr Sheppard? He’s awake now.”

John rose from the waiting-room chair and followed the doctor through miles and miles of mint green hospital corridors to Rodney’s room.

He was hooked up to several machines and almost as pale as the sheets and John got a little lightheaded and had to sit down. Rodney’s greying hair was greasy and when he opened his eyes they were exhausted and a bit scared.

“No more coffee,” John whispered hoarsely. “No more stress, no more junk food, okay? I want you to live.”

Rodney gave him a tired smile, squeezed his hand and nodded.
