When the rest of the Atlantis expeditions returns to Pegasus, Cadman stays behind. General Landry has offered her a place as an explosives expert at the SGC. The job comes with a promotion to Captain and she’d be stupid not to take it.

 

It’s not like she has anything in particular to go back to. She enjoyed the posting while it lasted. It was an adventure, the experience of a lifetime, but now she’s ready to move on.  

 

(There are still times when she wakes up in the middle of the night, expecting to hear the sound of the ocean.)

When Meredith was seven, he bought nine packs of tiny glow-in-the-dark plastic stars and spent two days glueing them to the ceiling in his room in the correct constellations. Sometimes, he’d let Jeannie lie on his bed while he pointed them out to her.

 

When Mer was ten, he found out that he’d never become an astronaut with his allergies. That’s when he started building bombs.

 

When Mer was thirty-nine, Jeannie found herself on a real honest-to-God spaceship, looking down on Earth with his big warm hands on her shoulders, and she thought, he did it, he found a way.

Today we've been learning about porn. For real. Only, we're not allowed to call it porn when we talk to customers. It's 'erotica' or 'adult entertainment'. So I think I'm going to write some adult entertainment now.

I think Cadman should go back to Atlantis and hang out with Rodney a lot. They can bond over the various bombs they built in their childhoods :-)
