In which Zin has opinions again...
Jan. 26th, 2008 08:50 pmSo... Maybe I was looking forward to this episode a little too much after all the squeeing Joe M did in his blog and all the clips of David and Jodelle, but I must say I’m a little disappointed. I was expecting a cute kid following Rodney around (because that’s what kids do, we’ve seen it before!). Instead we got evil manipulative brat of doom.
Am I a very bad person for not liking Harmony? Okay, she’s thirteen and probably spoiled rotten, but I don’t find it very comforting how the future queen talks about beating and torturing and assassinating people who don’t agree with her. Not to mention the lying about the powerbar stealage. That really pissed me off. Also, John, you did not just believe the brat over Rodney! Because if you did, you deserve to be smacked. Hard. And if you didn’t belive her, why didn’t you call her on her shit? Repeat after me please: Tormenting Rodney is not funny.
Dear show, remember what I said last week about giving Rodney a break? That does not include being stuck in the middle of the woods with a fickle little princess. I want an episode where everyone loves Rodney and feeds him cake and gives him foot massages. All the time.
(Okay, Zin, take a deep breath. Kids are evil. You know kids are evil. No big deal. And Rodney is an adult, he knows better than to let it get to him. I hope.)
Stuff I did like: Rodney’s nose. Rodney’s glee over grilled chicken-thing. The fact that Rodney brought a stunner on what was supposed to be a friendly trading mission. John’s little talk about leadership (let’s only hope that it gave the brat something to think about or the poor world will have a future tyrant on their hands). Rodney explaining things and fixing things and being generally brave. And Rodney said John! Several times! Yay!
The painting! How much do I love the painting! It almost makes me forgive the brat a little bit. Almost. I want there to be a huge poster of that painting so I can buy it and hang it over my bed.
Also, OMG it’s canon! How else are we to interpret the fact that John Sheppard = queen? I tell you, it’s the writers’ way of telling us that he’s the gayest thing that ever gayed!
(Yes, I know the rest of fandom seem to adore Harmony. I wanted to adore Harmony, but I just can't force myself to find her self-absorbed brattiness cute. I guess she reminds me a little too much of the kids who used to bully me in school.)
