Give Rodney a hug!

Am I the only one who thinks that Rodney's year hasn't been that great so far?

Yeah, that's what I thought. And do you know what he needs? Lots and lots of hugs. Therefore, I'm issuing a 'Give Rodney a hug' challenge. It starts now and runs until next Saturday, January 26:th, afternoonish (i.e. when I've seen Harmony...)

You may post your hugs here in comments or link to your own journal. All kinds of hugs are welcome. Fic-hugs, art-hugs, icon-hugs, vid-hugs, picspams full of hugs. John-hugs, team-hugs, sibling-hugs. Comforting hugs, sexy hugs, awkward hugs, hugs just because he's so huggable. It doesn't matter, just as long as Rodney gets all the hugs he deserves.

He wasn't even sure how it happened, really. But something in his chest just snapped. Rodney turned in Sheppard's loose grasp and hauled the other man against him, arms going tight around Sheppard's back, and buried his face in Sheppard's shoulder. Sheppard smelled like himself: cotton and soap, sweat and gun oil – Rodney inhaled deep and held his breath for a few moments, keeping that little bit of Sheppard deep inside himself.

"Rodney?" Sheppard asked softly. His hands touched on Rodney's shoulders like birds leery of landing, body stiff and still in Rodney's arms.

Rodney exhaled in a rush and breathed in again. "Fine. I'm – " His throat was almost too tight to force words out, and what was he trying to say, anyway? His hands clenched against Sheppard's back, trying to hold, trying not to. "I – just – "

Sheppard exhaled this time. "Okay." The stiffness bled out of him bit by bit and he took a deep breath, chest expanding against Rodney's, a solid, comforting heat. "It's okay," he whispered, his breath warm across the side of Rodney's neck.

Rodney swallowed. Sheppard made a very soft, short, shushing sort of sound and his arms came fully around Rodney's shoulders and closed in tight. Strong; so much stronger than that skinny frame implied. "'s okay," Sheppard murmured again. "I've got you."

Rodney curled his fingers, five of them around the jut of Sheppard's shoulderblade, the other five just touching bare skin at the nape of Sheppard's neck. "I know."
