H50 1x20 - Ma Ke Kahakai
Apr. 12th, 2011 08:24 pmTHERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN MY HEART FOR ALL THE LOVE I HAVE FOR THIS SHOW!
* Danny's haaaaands! I love the way he mimes the things he talks about, like the baseball move.
* Dear Steve,
I think you have misunderstood the whole idea of bringing someone on a date. Running up a mountain is not romantic (even if it gives the person behind you a very nice view of your ass). Walking slowly, holding hands is romantic. Just making sure you know the difference 'til next time.
Love
Zin
(Ok, running up a mountain so you can call for help for your injured boyfriend. That is romantic.)
*THE AIR HEART! SHOW WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME? OF COURSE DANNY HAS TO CONFESS HIS LOVE TO STEVE WITH HIS HANDS!
* Am I mistaken or was this the first time Kono had to bring bad news to a victim's family on her own? I wanted to give her a great big hug.
* Oh, Chin! You are such a good man and deserves so many hugs. I'm so glad we finally got to know the big secret and that the reveal wasn't disappointing. It fits in so well with the overall theme of the Show - Family Comes First.
* Have I said lately how much I adore Kamekona? Well, I do. He's such a warm personality and he puts a huge smile on my face every time he's on screen. I think he needs a lot more things to do than provide comic relief. This character has heaps of potential, Show, and you need to use him!
* THE FISH-POKING! No one will ever convince me that those two are not completely married. Danny picking up the fish! Danny playing with the fish! Steve poking the fish! I'm going to watch this scene so many times! Fish-poking never gets old!
And Steve is 'babe'-ing Danny back now! :D
(Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Starsky and Hutch use to call each other 'babe' too? And didn't the actors themselves refer to that show as 'a love story between two men who happen to be cops'. I'm paraphrasing wildly here, but I seem to remember having read it somewhere.)

Did Steve actually smile smugly when he told Kono that Danny had helped him change shirts?
Am definitely downloading and re-watching this one!

Date: 2011-04-12 07:05 pm (UTC)I believe what Steve actually said was, "Danny went home to change his shirt", but there was definitely a smug smile, and I choose to interpret it to mean that the reason Danny had to change was that his shirt got dirty in a way that had nothing to do with fish-poking but rather poking of a different kind ;)

Date: 2011-04-12 09:58 pm (UTC)And yes, Starsky used to call Hutch "Babe" (he did it once, anyway, when Hutch was at death's door in Season 3 from being exposed to a plague-type virus--at the time he was encouraging Hutch, through the isolation room window, to hang on a little longer 'cause the virus carrier was on his way to the hospital so he could donate blood, or whatever, so the Drs could create a serum with which to treat the plague victims); Hutch, on the other hand, called Starsky "Dirtball", "Mushbrain" or "Gordo"... but never "Babe".
A small thing about your post though: This episode was 1x20, as you said. But the title was Ma Ke Kahakai. I think Ho'op'i is the title of next week's episode. Hope this helps...

Date: 2011-04-13 03:47 am (UTC)I knew I had seen the 'babe' thing somewhere before. I never really got into Starsky and Hutch - I'm a little too young to have seen it on TV and I got the DVD sets a couple of years ago, but I was way late to the fandom. Still, fun show with great chemistry between the leads! Just like another show I could mention...
