Radek Zelenka.

Oh, interesting! I've barely written him at all so I'm afraid it's a quite short list, but here's my Radek:

* Radek is a very very patient man, and I believe he's also a bit of a perfectionist. Rodney might be the one who performs miracles whenever there's a crisis, but if you need someone to spend weeks mapping out the entire power grid of Atlantis, Radek's your guy.

* He's not the dashing hero type and has no interest in that role. If he's needed, he'll come through of course, but he prefers the relative safety of his lab to situations involving guns and almost certain death.

* English is not his first language. He swears in Czech, he thinks in Czech, he talks to himself in Czech. He's spent a lot of time in the States, but he has a different cultural background and a different frame of reference that the US-based members of the expedition.

* He doesn't date, not since Elizabeth. What happened to her wasn't fair and even though he's not even sure if she ever really returned his feelings, he wants to honour her memory. He keeps telling himself that he'll be ready to move on soon, but it feels like a big step to take.

* Contrary to popular opinion, my Radek does not have a hidden still. In fact, he drinks very little and he doesn't particularly care for vodka but prefers single malt. (The marines now, that's a different story. And if they got a few pointers on how to build their still and keep it from exploding messily, well that's between Radek and Sergeant Metzer and no-one else needs to know about it.)
