Well, Moz has been an actual character on the show while Kate has been something for Neal to obsess about, and when that wasn't enough they fridged her so he could suffer some more, so I don't think it's wrong, (unless you count the inherent wrongness of killing off female characters just to facilitate angst for male characters.)
