Eh, I know these feelings well. I usually reach a point of story-loathing about 3/4 of the way through and I'm ready to throw in the towel. Today though, I loathe *everything* I'm working on or have ever written, so maybe I'm not the best one to talk to. :-)
I don't watch Doctor Who, but I can sympathize with wanting a likable show to live up to potential or previous expectations. It's like wanting the same for one of your own stories. You *know* the potential is there; you're just not sure that you can coax it out and yet you don't want to give up on it either.
Sadly, I can also understand the meh feeling too. Hopefully your little respiratory thing will blow over and you'll feel much better soon!
